After mysteriously resigning as manager of the Texas Rangers, Ron Washinton faced the media for the very first time since his announcement.

Former Texas Rangers manager Ron Washington said Thursday talked to media saying that he is embarrassed for breaking the trust of his wife of 42 years. But aside from that information, little is known of the true reason of his resignation.

He said in a statement "I made a mistake and I'm embarrassed more than I've ever been in my life. I was not true to my wife, after 42 years. I broke our trust. I'm here today to own that mistake and to apologize to her, and to those I disappointed, and those who have trusted in me, and I let them down."

Washington never divulges in his speech what his mistake was. They did not entertain any questions during the media coverage.

He continued "Today, I'm at a very low time in my life. I'm sorry for breaking the trust that I had with my wife and for disappointing my players, for disappointing my coaches, disappointing Major League Baseball, and for disappointing the Texas Rangers. All I ask for your forgiveness and your understanding."

It can be remembered that Washington has called a meeting to his team in order to deliver a news and that is to announce his retirement saying that he needs to focus his attention on an "off-the-field personal matter."

The announcement came a day after the Rangers (53-87) lost their sixth straight game for the season. They have been plagued with injury. Only three years ago, Texas reached its second consecutive World Series under Washington.

The Baseball veteran is requesting the public to respect their privacy "as we go on with our lives. This matter is certainly personal, and we've been trying hard to put it behind us."

Although he strongly desire to get back in baseball, the time as to when will that happen is not clear. He said "I was born to be a baseball player. I'm a baseball lifer. 'I look to the future and getting back into the game and continuing my career."
