American professional mixed martial artist and UFC's undefeated fighter Tim Kennedy is not bothered in facing Cuban mixed martial artist (MMA) and former World Champion and Olympic silver medalist in freestyle wrestling Yoel Romero.
According to Kennedy the achievements of Romero is not a problem for him and that he believes his own wresting skill is a matchup or even more for the Olympian.
He said "I don't think I'll have a problem taking him down. I don't care where the fight goes. I want to beat him on the feet. I'm a much more technical striker. I have very good head defense. If he tries to use his wrestling, I'm good enough to stop his takedowns. I want to beat him up on our feet."
Both fighters will be facing each other in the UFC 178 which stars Johnson VS Cariaso in the main event. This will be on September 27, 2014 MGM Grand Garden Arena, Las Vegas, Nevada.
Kennedy said that he would need to fight offensively making sure that he puts pressure on Romero. He said "I've got to put pressure on him from start to finish. He's super talented when he can dictate how he wants the fight to go. I can't let him do that. He'll want range, be explosive and close the distance and dictate timing, but I'm going to be in his face bell to bell looking for a finish at every single moment in the fight."
While others may not believe that Kennedy is a perfect match for Romero, he said that his recent upset victories over Roger Gracie and Michael Bisping is a clear evidence of what he is capable of doing. He added "It seems like people say that every time. People said that about my last fight with Bisping, but I destroyed him for five rounds. Then they said that about Roger Gracie, and I murdered him on the ground. This is no different. I'm fighting a very, very talented athlete and gifted wrestler."
The date is pretty close and fans from both sides are looking forward to what both fighters will show inside the octagon.
