Cleveland Browns' wide receiver Josh Gordon was suspended for one year after failing another drug test. Gordon stayed for 10 hours in the MFL office in New York last Friday as he appealed his case. The sessions will resume on Monday.

Gordon actually contested the sanction of one year suspension saying that the result turned out positive due to second hand smoking.

But good news waits for the Browns' and Gordon as well as he has been a direct recipient of the recently revamp Drug policy of the NFL which has already been approved by NFLPA representatives.

Because of the Gordon's suspension has been reduced to 10 games instead of a 1 year suspension.

According to Gordon in his statement "I'm happy that the NFLPA and NFL worked hard to agree on a new substances of abuse policy. I'm very thankful to my union for fighting for a significant reduction in my suspension. I'm glad I can go to the facility during my suspension. I look forward to going to meetings, working out individually, and learning from my coaches and teammates. I can't wait until game 11 to get back on the field!"

Gordon has already served two games in hi suspension which means that he only as 8 more games to go before he can play again. He will start playing on Nov 23. The Browns will be off to Atlanta by then. Gordon's 10-game suspension will cost him more than $800,000. He'll be paid over $300,000 if he plays in those last six games.

Browns coach Mike Pettine said he and general manager Ray Farmer said that they will meet with Gordon once he returns to play saying "'We'll sit down with him and just kind of lay the plan out for him."

Adding "We are aware of the new NFL policy related to the reduction of Josh Gordon's suspension to 10 games. We will continue to support and work with him under the NFL guidelines throughout this process. Our team's focus right now remains on preparing for Sunday's game against the Baltimore Ravens"

Among the changes that were made to the new drug policy includes a less-strict policy on drugs which incorporates a change on how the league tests for amphetamines and marijuana. Aside from this the policy has also included the first ever testing for human growth hormone.

Basing from NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the decision to approve the new policy was unanimous as all of the 32 representatives approved it.
