An ESPN story came out last week says that Baltimore Ravens owner Steve Bisciotti, President Dick Cass and general manager Ozzie Newsome pushed Commissioner Roger Goodell for leniency for Rice.
The Raven's owner, who rarely comes out of the media, feels that it is just right for him to respond to said allegations.
He said "Their accusations didn't jibe with what we know is fact. I don't think the league would take too kindly to us badgering them."
"I didn't really care. If it was going to be a precedent-setting (suspension of) four or six games, I would have told Ray not to appeal it. I expected four of six games and I was surprised as everybody else that it was two."
Rice was arrested following February 15 where he struck his ex fiancée Janay Palmer in Atlantic City, New Jersey. The six year veteran has been accepted into a diversion program. When the program is completed, there is a possibility that Rice's charges will be obliterated.
TMZ released a grainy video of Rice and Janay Palmer in an elevator at an Atlantic City casino. Each hits the other before Rice knocks Palmer off her feet and into a railing. Months ago, a TMZ video showed Rice dragging Palmer, now his wife, from the elevator at the Revel casino, which closed Sept. 2.
Bisciotti acknowledges that this is the biggest controversy that his team has faced since he took over it but he assures that the organization is strong enough to withstand the issues.
He said "When your integrity is questioned, it's pretty humbling. Last week it was our competence being questioned. Now it's our integrity."
He said that the ESPN news is biased and incorrect saying "It's clear from the subject matter that it's Ray's attorney, it's Ray's agent and it's Ray's friends. They are building a case for reinstatement."
In a statement given by Bisciotti he said "As I stated in our letter to you on September 9, we did not do all we should have done, and no amount of explanation can remedy that. But there has been no misdirection or misinformation by the Ravens."
