"Magic Mike XXL" has begun production and the details for the sequel of the hit 2012 film are surfacing.
The sequel to "Magic Mike" will have some major casting changes. Channing Tatum, who inspired, produced and starred in the original, will be returning while Matthew McConaughey's Dallas and Alex Pettyger's Adam "The Kid" won't be making a comeback, according to Cinema Blend.
Steven Soderbergh, who directed the original film, will be taking on the role of editor and cinematographer for the upcoming movie while Greg Jacobs, who previously worked as Soderbergh's first assistant director, will be making his directorial debut with "Magic Mike XXL."
However, as several stars leave the cast, others will join the sexy road-trip that is "Magic Mike XXL."
Andie MacDowell, Jada Pinkett-Smith, Amber Heard, Donald Glover and Elizabeth Banks have reportedly been added to the cast. Football star and "Live With Kelly and Michael" host Michael Strahan will also be making an appearance in the film.
The plot of the highly-anticipated sequel is as follows (via Stashed):
"Picking up the story three years after Mike bowed out of the stripper life at the top of his game, 'Magic Mike XXL' finds the remaining Kings of Tampa likewise ready to throw in the towel. But they want to do it their way: burning down the house in one last blow-out performance in Myrtle Beach, and with legendary headliner Magic Mike sharing the spotlight with them. On the road to their final show, with whistle stops in Jacksonville and Savannah to renew old acquaintances and make new friends, Mike and the guys learn some new moves and shake off the past in surprising ways."
"Magic Mike XXL" will be in theaters on July 3, 2015.
