Xbox One Price Drop: Microsoft's Xbox One Sales Skyrocket 155%, PS4 Has 'No Short Term Price Decisions'

Xbox One Price Drop. According to reports, Microsoft is witnessing a spike in sales compared to PS4 after an Xbox One price drop. Since last November, when the PS4 and the Xbox One were released. However, market insiders say that Xbox One from Microsoft had better sales figures than Sony's video game console, the PS4. This was attributed to slashed prices just last week.

The Xbox One initially cost a whopping $696.63, but the 360 upgrade is now sold for $539.99 in the UK. As for Sony, the PS4 runs for $566.78 since its launch shifting more video gamers to go with Microsoft video console.

As an example, in the last week since Microsoft (NASDAQ: MSFT) initiated a price drop, MCV industry analysts have revealed a 155% jump in sales over a period of a week, according to a source close to the story. Although the sharp increase is due to the Xbox One price drop, the release of FIFA 15 was also considered a significant contributor to improved sales at the Redmond vendor.

The EA title created a strong impact driving PS4 sales up 80% in the same week-to-week analysis. Although Microsoft's Xbox One price drop has created an increase in sales, it may too early to say if Microsoft's Xbox One can compete with PS4 on a weekly future.

Reports also claim that a slash in PS4 prices is unlikely in the near future. In a recent interview with Fergal Gara, Managing Director of Sony Computer Entertainment UK, told TrustedReviews that "a PS$ price cut was still some way off."

Speaking on the sidelines of the E3, Gara said, "There are no short term price decisions and nothing to announce here on price," adding, "over time we will always look at when there might be an opportunity to reach a broader market and take the price down as technology matures, but that could be some way off."
