When Cat Zingano was supposed to face Ronda Rousey for the first time, it did not push through. Now, Zingano is given a second chance to face the UFC women's bantamweight champion.
Is this true? Apparantly it is. This has been confirmed by UFC president Dana White. He said "he was screaming at me after the fight. She ran over and started screaming, 'Do you see me? Do you see me?' Yes, I see you," added White. "This was the shut up about Gina Carano fight. I think that's the statement Cat wanted to make tonight, and she made it loud and clear."
UFC has been meaning to get Gina Carano to fight Rousey but it seems like it is not pushing through as Carano is set to film two new movies which makes a fight with Rousey, near impossible.
On the other hand, White felt the need to put Zingano in a fight to re introduce her fanbase. He said "She's been out a while. She had some injuries. She was dealing with some personal problems. She is back. I think the fans needed to see her, and she needed to remind everybody why she was in line for a title shot. She did it tonight."
Rousey is expected to get inside the cage again on January 3 for the UFC 182: Jones vs. Cormier fight card and this schedule fits well for Zingano. White said "I just think the caliber of athlete, the intensity that I bring. I feel like I'm, I don't know, I just bring something different to everything. I'm just game."
On other news, Rousey currently made a comment regarding one of the contestants for the season 20 of The Ultimate Fighter (TUF). According to her, she thinks that Rose Namajunas will be the next Rowdy.
She said "I called it from the very beginning. As soon as I saw her, I saw this girl is special. I've been following her for two years. I only finally got to meet her. I've been stalking her on Instagram for year. It was so great to be able to meet her, and I wish her all the luck. I can't wait to see how she does in the season. She's got an amazing skill set, she's an exciting fighter. She takes risks, she's gorgeous, and she's charismatic. I really think she has all the tools that are needed in order to be the next really influential champion."
