Jason Bourne 5 Release Date: Will Matt Damon's Jason Bourne Cross Paths With Jeremy Renner's Aaron Cross? Next Bourne Movie Set To Be Released In 2016!

Well it looks confirmed that the original actor in the series of Bourne movies will be back to reprise his role as the renegade spy! Matt Damon is reported to have reached a deal with Universal pictures to come back as Jason Bourne, and what's more original director Paul Greengrass will be back as well! Now the question on everyone's mind is: when will we know the Jason Bourne 5 release date?

Well, according to a report by Deadline, Universal Pictures is set to start the production of the next Bourne movie during the first half of 2015. If this pushes through, this would mean a Jason Bourne 5 release date of 2016. The only problem with that, is that this is when the Bourne sequel starring Jeremy Renner and directed by Justin Lin (True Detective, Fast And The Furious) is also set to be released.

This has led to speculations that there will be a crossover between the Bourne universes! Rumors have swirled that Matt Damon's Jason Bourne and Jeremy Renner's Aaron Cross might both be in the Jason Bourne 5 movie.

But according to a report by Deadline, it looks like Universal's plan is to have an expansion of the Bourne universe, not a combination. In their own words, they want to "broaden its franchise base." So instead of one Jason Bourne 5 release date featuring the two Bourne anti-heroes, Universal's plan is to have separate movies, with the possibility of crossovers and intersections along the way.

As for the Jason Bourne 5 plot, there are no confirmed news as to what this new storyline will be about. Actor Matt Damon has always said that a good storyline starring his character, plus Paul Greengrass in the director's chair, will be more than enough to make him want to back to playing Jason Bourne. Well it looks like a good story is on hand, and we'll just have to keep tabs on the Jason Bourne 5 release date.
