Which smartphone is the better choice for consumers? We pit the HTC One M8 Prime against the Samsung Galaxy S5 Prime to see which device is worth the purchase.

For the design and display, the HTC One M8 Prime has a casing that will be a combination between aluminum and liquid silicon and it's going to be water resistant, while the Samsung Galaxy S5 Prime is speculated to have a gold metal casing. The HTC One M8 Prime has slightly bigger display than its competitor, as the smartphone will have a 5.5 inches display with a resolution of 2560x1440pixels, while the Samsung Galaxy S5 Prime will feature a 5.2 inches display with the same resolution as the HTC unit.

In terms of hardware and OS, both smartphones are powered by the same 2.5GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 CPU paired with 3GB of RAM. The difference is, that the Samsung Galaxy S5 Prime will be equipped with an Adreno 420 GPU and an internal memory of 32GB, but we don't know yet the storage capacity of the HTC One M8 Prime.

According to PC World, it seems that the HTC One M8 Prime will run on either Android 4.4.2 or Android 4.4.3 OS and HTC's Sense 6.5 UI. It will support 6 LTE, which should allow a download speed of 300mbps. For the Samsung Galaxy S5 Prime, PC Advisor mentioned that it will run on the Android 4.4.3 KitKat version and will have Samsung's TouchWiz UI.

For camera specs, the HTC smartphone has the advantage over the Samsung unit. According to PC World, the HTC One M8 Prime will come with an 18MP duo camera + 5MP camera on the front, while PC Advisor stated that the Samsung Galaxy S5 Prime will have a 16MP rear camera and a 2MP front camera - with optical image stabilization.

PC Advisor also stated that the Samsung Galaxy S5 Prime cost over $1000, while PC World claimes that the HTC One M8 Prime is between $940-$1000.
