Lorde Angers Baseball Fans After Saying ‘Royals’ Is ‘Cool’?

Lorde may not be aware of the baseball frenzy that she caused with her hit song "Royals."

Fans of the San Francisco Giants have reportedly asked a couple radio stations in the area to stop from playing "Royals" during the World Series, according to ESPN.

KFOG Radio in San Francisco reportedly announced that they wouldn't be playing Lorde's hit single during the week, according to Yahoo News. Another San Francisco radio station 96.5 KOIT reportedly also decided to remove the song "until the San Francisco Giants win the World Series."

"Our listeners told us to do it, so we did it! As of 4p.m. today, we've removed Lorde-Royals from our playlist until the end of the World Series. Go Giants, beat the Royals," program director Brian Figula wrote on the station's website.

Lorde's explanation as to what inspired her to write "Loyals" may anger baseball fans as well.

"I had this image from the National Geographic of this dude just signing baseballs," the 17-year-old told VHI during an interview.

She continued, "He was a baseball player and his shirt said, 'Royals.' It was just that word. It's really cool."

Although San Francisco Giants fans aren't too happy about "Royals" at the moment, Kansas City Royals fans are giving the track some extra love by even writing their own lyrics to the song.

Even though baseball fans have taken their loyalty for their team to the next level, some people still find the whole thing rather unnecessary.

"Silly superstitious people," wrote social media user EDDIE.
