Although Halloween is a fun time for kids ranging from all ages, it can also be a dangerous time for young trick-or-treaters, which is where crucial safety tips come in.
A new app has surfaced so that parents and their kids will be able to let each other know where they're located throughout the Halloween night, according to the media outlet WDTV.
The new app is reportedly called "Trick or Tracker" and it might just be the number one safety tip for parents and kids even when it's not Halloween.
"This is a great example of how mobile technology is keeping families together and everybody safe, but also giving everybody their space. Kids might be a little embarrassed by having mom and dad around, or maybe mom or dad don't want to do what they want to do, but still keep tabs on each other and make sure nobody gets lot or nobody gets into a dangerous situation," stated Dr. Elizabeth Cohen, Communications Studies professor at West Virginia University.
Aside from using the "Trick or Tracker" app, there are other Halloween safety tips that parents may want to note.
Adult supervision for younger children to help with crossing streets during the night will be helpful, while parents with older kids should emphasize the importance of walking in groups and going on routes with good lighting, according to the news outlet My Suncoast.
It's also imperative that drivers watch where they're going and slow down on neighborhood roads, according to the ABC 7 affiliate.
