Cutler says Marshall did not single out anyone

Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler insisted that receiver Brandon Marshall did not single him out or anyone else when he made an outburst following last week's loss to the Miami Dolphins.

He said "He didn't come near me. He didn't say my name. I don't think he attacked anyone personally (with) what he was saying."

Cutler made those comments when his team succumbs to a devastating loss 27-14 at Soldier Field in which many questioned his leadership and his direction of the team.

Reporters overheard Marshall shouting in the locker room. Others say that Marshall was yelling at kicker Robbie Gould while others say that the relationship between Marshall and Cutler is a rocky one.

Cutler said "I think some people are indifferent, some people are responding well to it. 'Like I said, I don't think anybody's taking it negatively. It was a frustrating loss for all of us. I think once guys left the locker room, that's kind of where it died. We moved on Monday and Tuesday and we practiced Wednesday. It was just one of those things."

While Coach Marc Trestman said that as long as his players are releasing their frustrations in an appropriate manner and they are not disrespecting anyone, then he has no issues with it.

He adds "To me, this is commonplace and over a weekend of games, believe me, our locker room is not the only one where players express themselves when things haven't gone well."

The team insist that they are still on good position and they are not falling apart.

Trestman said "I think our team is very much together. This is a very close football team. I think what people get caught up in is the emotions that happen after a game. In 20 years of NFL locker rooms, a lot of things can go on after a game because people handle winning and losing differently. We're not judgmental about players expressing themselves. We know that they care about this football team. ... We don't make any more out of it than it is."

When asked if there is a rift between Cutler and Marchall, he answered "I have no sense for that at all."
