The year 2014 has been a good year for smartphone consumers, as technology companies around the globe launched a wave of high-end handsets that make the previous year's offerings seem like kids' toys, here's a head to head review of Galaxy note 4 and iPhone 6 handsets.

Design and Build

The Galaxy Note 4 and iPhone 6 are about as diverse as you can get, although, this is down to a couple of phones' enormous disparity in size. The Galaxy Note 4 at 17g and 154x8.5mm that makes the iphone 6 underweight at 138x67x6.9mm and 129g.

That said, in spite iPhone 6 being made of metal, doesn't look as scratch or drop resistant as the polycarbonate backplate of Galaxy Note 4, and proved significantly more damage-resistant than iPhone's metal one.

Display

Even there are guarantees from Apple that the new iPhone 6's 133c750 HD, 4.7 ince, 325ppi retina display is the best choice ever, the Galaxy Note 4 has an exact edge. It has 5.7 in 256x1440; 51ppi Super Amoled display the Galaxy Note 4 has one of the largest pixels per inch thickness ever seen on a tablet/phone.

Being that said, with longer viewing, we did started to notice the distinction in sharpness between the two icons and text on the Galaxy Note 4 which is slightly crisper than the iPhone 6.

Operating system

For the operating system, thanking the enhanced sychronisation of iPhone 6 that features on Mac OS X Yosemite and iOS 8, the iPhone 6 is definitely the better option for those who are deeply fond of Apple's ecosystem. Although Samsung has verified it will upgrade the OS of Galaxy Note 4 to Google which soon to be launched Android 5.0 lollipop, the gadget is set to pursue operating on customized kitkat version in the future.

Which smartphone is better? Which is a great value for money? For this review, the winner is Galaxy Note 4.
