Lindsay Lohan has opened up about her harrowing ordeal in prison. The star of "Mean Girls" told Jonathan Ross in an interview that her 14 days in solitary confinement was an extreme sentence for the charge that she put away on.

"Solitary confinement is actually very different," shared the 28-year-old actress. "You leave your cell for one hour a day and you don't go outside."

Lindsay Lohan then continued, "I don't think anyone knows that, but the other girls in the other cells were in there for murder. They said it was for 'safety purposes,' I said, 'What am I going to do?' I made a mistake. I went to a club and then I drank and I drove home and that's not the right thing to do, but to put someone in that position, it was very scary. It was very jarring."

Back in May of 2010, a judge had determined that Lohan had violated the terms of her probation by missing a few mandatory DUI classes and meetings. Thus, the actress was sentenced to 90 days in prison, followed by 90 days of inpatient rehab treatment.

The "Confessions of A Teenage Drama Queen" star only served 14 days of the jail sentence, due to overcrowding. Still, despite the time that she spent inside the prison, she claimed that she found it "weirdly" cathartic. She said, "The weirdest part for me was I finally had silence in my life."

"As terrified as I was and as scared as I was, I finally felt like I didn't have to answer to anyone and I didn't have to do anything for anyone," Lohan added. "That was the weirdest part of it."

Ross then asked her if the imprisonment was a good thing for her, if that was the case. She then answered, "Two days would have been enough."
