A horse, Stormy, had to be rescued after falling into a swimming pool in a home in suburban Phoenix, according to the Associated Press.
Mesa Fire Captain Forrest Smith reportedly stated that firefighters, with the assistance of a veterinarian, tranquilized the horse before pulling it out using several straps.
The horse was reportedly not injured, although it's not clear how the animal fell into the backyard swimming pool and got stuck. Mesa firefighters reportedly stated that the horse was wandering outside of its pen on Saturday before falling into the pool.
The owner, who hasn't been identified, reportedly called the fire department when his horse was unable to escape from the swimming pool, according to UK's The Independent. Workers reportedly discovered the horse pacing the shallow end before taking the steps to lift him out of the pool.
This isn't the first time animals have taken interest in our swimming pools.
Earlier this year, a team of fire fighters were reportedly called to a home in Texas to rescue a bull that had fallen into a swimming pool after it escaped from a local ranch near San Antonio. Swedish fire fighters were reportedly once called to rescue an elk after it fell into a swimming pool in January last year as well.
National Geographic reportedly published an article last year suggesting that animal, both domesticated and wild, were attracted to pools because they think they can play or cool off in them.
