Randle suffered a leg injury in the fourth quarter during his debut performance with the Lakers against Houston Rockets. The Seventh draft pick collided with two Rockets and landing awkwardly with 6:46 to play and was sent off in a stretcher.

According to Lakers coach Byron Scott "'I think we're all a little shocked by it, disappointed, hurt, all those things are probably going through all our minds. I know I didn't get a lot of sleep just thinking about the young fella."

Lakers star player, Kobe Bryant, consoled the rookie after the game in their locker room. He said "Even for myself, being a veteran, seeing someone going through something like this is tough. But that's what we're here for. We're here to be his teammates and help him through it, take it day by day. ... He was progressing just fine. He was improving leaps and bounds."

According to Scott, it was not a violent move that cause Randle his injury.

He said "He got bumped in midair but it wasn't like he collided with anybody. 'It just kind of looked like his left foot kind of kicked his right leg and he comes down and he just grabbed his leg. I don't know if it was a freak accident or what but it was something that just didn't look that bad to end up being as bad as it is."

Randle also won fans in Los Angeles for his humble approach to his NBA career and his devotion to his mother, Carolyn Kyles.

Scott said "Everybody on the team loves Julius. He's a great kid, worked his butt off. We expected a lot from him this year so the guys are going to miss him."

Aside from Randle, there are also three other Lakers player who were not able to play in the opening game for the team. These are Wayne Ellington, Ryan Kelly and Nick Young.

Many will be looking forward to seeing Randle play again but they would have to wait for the next season.
