Is Michael Bay Too Good For ‘Transformers’ Now? The Answer Is No.

Michael Bay stated back in August that he will most likely not be returning to direct the very famous "Transformers" franchise for the next installment, which is already scheduled for a 2016 release, according to the media outlet The Mary Sue.

Now the "Transformers" director is reportedly in negotiation to direct "13 Hours," the adaptation of Mitchell Zuckoff's book about the attack on an American compound in Lybia that left U.S. Ambassador J. Christopher Stevens dead, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Chuck Hogan reportedly wrote the script adapting the book, which focuses on six members of a security team that fought to defend the Americans stationed at the U.S. State Department Special Mission Compound in Benghazi. Erwin Stoff is reportedly producing the Paramount film.

Sources reportedly stated that "13 Hours" will be budgeted in the $30 to $40 million range, vastly different from the $200 million budget that Michael Bay is accustomed to for his "Transformers" movies.

Although it hasn't been confirmed if Michael Bay will be a part of the project yet, the upcoming film is reportedly being compared to some of the director's previous action films, including "The Rock."

Moviegoers aren't too pleased about Michael Bay's possible venture into something that's not "Transformers" related.

"Given the choice, go ahead and make Transformers 5,6,7 and 8!," commented social media user DWolf2k2.

CJ Tremlett commented, "That sounds like a must-miss movie from Michael Bay! I hope it crashes and burns and loses money and they stop paying him to make terrible movies."
