The upcoming Steve Jobs biopic, which is to be directed by Danny Boyle, has been going through many ups and downs when it comes to looking for its lead.
Despite the continuous casting problems for the Steve Jobs biopic, actor Michael Fassbender is already the next star in line to take on the role of the Apple Founder, according to U.K's The Independent.
According to Variety, the "Shame" actor is in "early talks" to play Steve Jobs, but nothing has been confirmed just yet.
Leonardo DiCaprio had previously been up for the role, but reportedly decided to work on the film "The Revenant" instead while actors Matt Damon, Bradley Copper and Ben Affleck were all reported to have been considered for the role at some stage as well.
Christian Bale was reportedly the most recent actor to drop out of the role.
"Bale, after much deliberation and conflicting feelings, came to the conclusion he was not right for the part and decided to withdraw," stated sources, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
It is reportedly unclear how Christian Bale's decision to part from the project will further affect casting. Director Danny Boyle is reportedly due in town this week to meet with actors and actresses for the new Steve Jobs biopic.
There have been reports that Seth Rogen is up for the role of Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak, but it has yet to be confirmed.
Bale's recent withdrawal from the film is surprising, as Aaron Sorkin, who wrote the script, had expressed that the actor was perfect for the role.
"We needed the best actor on board in a certain age range and that's Chris Bale. He didn't have to audition. Well, there was a meeting," Sorkin had told Bloomberg TV on October 23.
