"Despicable Me 3" is really happening, but fans need to wait until 2017 before they can see Gru and his girls again on the big screen. I'm sure you're wondering why I didn't mention the minions. That's because Gru's yellow sidekicks will have their own movie. If you're a huge fan of the minions, then make sure to watch the "Minions" movie on 2015.
The Hollywood Reporter confirmed the news about "Despicable Me 3" when Universal Studios announced their list of animated films for the coming years. The said that the release date of the third "Despicable Me" movie will be on June 30, 2017.
In a separate report from Hallels, they revealed that there will be a "Despicable Me" spin-off called the "Minions" and it will feature the voice of Sandra Bullock and John Hamm. According to Deadline (via Christian Post), Sandra Bullock will voice Scarlett Overkill, who is described to be a stylish super-villain who is bent on world domination.
Jon Hamm, on the other hand, will voice Herb who is Scarlett's inventor husband. Steve Carell will also be included in the film as Gru, but he was nowhere to be found in the trailer. We aren't talking about the "Despicable Me 3" trailer since the production of that sequel will probably begin next year. We are referring to the official trailer of "Minions".
Illumination recently released the "Minions" trailer and fans got a glimpse of their origin. Many of us thought that Gru's adorable sidekicks grew up in his lab and they were a creation of Dr. Nefario. However, the video showed no signs of the scientist and the secret agent.
Instead we can see them train a dinosaur, build a pyramid, accidentally kill a vampire, and join the Napoleonic war before they reach the city of New York years before Gru was born. This gave us an idea how old the minions are. Check out the trailer below:
Make sure to watch the “Minions” next year and you would most probably see a “Despicable Me 3” trailer in the post-credits of the movie.
