More on the good news, American mixed martial artist who competes in the Light Heavyweight division of the Ultimate Fighting Championship, Anthony Johnson is back limelight as his indefinite suspension has been lifted.
The UFC has officially announced that the civil cased filed against Johnson for domestic violence has been dismissed which means that the fighter is now cleared and may resume his work at the UFC.
UFC statement says "The person who filed a civil temporary protection order against UFC contender Anthony Johnson last September voluntarily dismissed their complaint last week in the Florida Circuit Court. Before granting a dismissal of the case, the presiding judge independently questioned the alleging party regarding their voluntary intentions, and thereafter the judge dismissed the entire matter."
"The dismissal of the case, along with an independent investigation that was commissioned by the UFC organization, brings closure to this matter for Johnson and allows him to return to competition in the UFC. As a result, UFC officials are exploring options for Johnson's next fight to take place early next year."
Johnson was suspended in Sept 19 after certain allegations with regards to domestic violence arose because of the Ray Rice NFL issues.
During that time, Johnson was supposed to fight Swedish contender Alexander Gustafsson in the UFC on FOX 13 on Dec. 13. But it had to be cut short because of the civil case.
According to UFC "The UFC organization will not tolerate domestic violence, sexual assault or any other violation of its Code of Conduct. The organization is committed to thoroughly investigating all allegations and taking the appropriate action when warranted."
Johnson is currently the #3 ranked light heavyweight in the official UFC rankings. He is ranked #6 in the world by Sherdog, and #3 by ESPN. He appeared in the movie Warrior as a fighter named Orlando "Midnight" Lee.
He made his UFC debut at UFC Fight Night 10, knocking out Chad Reiner just thirteen seconds into the first round. He had taken the fight on less than a weeks notice replacing an injured Steve Bruno who tore his rotator cuff. He was also seen in a previous video for The Ultimate Fighter trying out for season six, however for undisclosed reasons he was not on the show.
