There's not much good from Los Angeles Lakers news reports these days, as Kobe Bryant is accused of playing too much hero ball and the team continues to lose. Will Nick Young save the day?

"The Los Angeles Lakers have gotten off to an abysmal 1-9 start this season, and Kobe Bryant has drawn a lot of criticism for taking too many shots and being a ball hog," wrote Evan Massey of FanSided. "Bryant is scoring at a very high pace, but has been taking way too many shots to put those numbers up."

This observation seems to be confirmed by the Los Angeles Lakers news from beat writer Dave McMenamin who wrote on Twitter: "League source suggested to me Kobe is making sure he passes MJ in career points while he's healthy & once he does will settle into team ball."

But Bleacher Report said that Kobe Bryant playing hero ball is necessary.

"The Lakers are a one-man show in every sense of the term, and whether that show is a comedy or tragedy probably depends on how much purple and gold you've got in your closet," it said. "Absorb what's happening with Bryant and the Lakers this year and take notes so you can explain to your grandchildren why a team getting annihilated every time out is such fascinating theater."

Meanwhile, in other Los Angeles Lakers news from Bleacher Report, Nick Young's return won't save the franchise from sinking even if he does provide a needed scoring punch to prevent Kobe Bryant's hero ball.

"As fun as Young's return may be, it won't be enough to overcome the ineptitude of the Lakers' bit players on whole," David Murphy wrote for Bleacher Report. "Is the bench really all that bad? Yes, it is."

"It's not only scoring that's at issue. The team's defense-a priority for Scott going into his first season as head coach for the organization-is the worst in the league. Adding insult to injury, the Lakers sideline leader now says it may be unfixable," he added.
