After the red carpet arrivals, prepare yourselves for the big show with AMA host Pitbull! According to TV Guide, "Scheduled performers for the 42nd annual gala include Taylor Swift, Mary J. Blige, Charli XCX, Fergie, 5 Seconds of Summer, Lorde, One Direction, Sam Smith and Pitbull, who is hosting for the second year in a row. The event is held at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles. Winners are determined by fan voting in categories that include Pop/Rock, Country, Rap/Hip-Hop, Latin and Electronic Dance Music."

There certainly is plenty to look forward to! According to CBS News, "A wide range of genres will be celebrated this weekend at the American Music Awards with stars from pop and R&B to Latin and EDM taking the stage to perform and pick up trophies. Australian rapper Iggy Azalea leads the pack of nominees this year with six nods. John Legend, Katy Perry and Pharrell Williams are each up for five nominations each, followed by Lorde, who's in the running for four honors. Beyonce, Eminem, Imagine Dragons, OneRepublic and One Direction were nominated for three awards. Bastille, Drake, Luke Bryan and Sam Smith each have two nominations for the fan-voted awards show. Taylor Swift will kick off the show with live TV premiere of her new single "Blank Space."
"A host of other artists are slated to perform, including, Mary J. Blige, 5 Seconds of Summer, Garth Brooks, Charli XCX, Fergie, Selena Gomez, Ariana Grande, Imagine Dragons, Jessie J, Lil Wayne, Lorde, Magic!, Nicki Minaj, One Direction and Sam Smith. Presenters include Uzo Aduba, Jhene Aiko, Elizabeth Banks, Aloe Blacc, Lauren Cohan, Gavin DeGraw, Ansel Elgort, Jamie Foxx, Becky G, Brantley Gilbert, Danai Gurira, Lucy Hale, Ella Henderson, Julianne Hough, Kendall Jenner, Kylie Jenner, Kira Kazantsev, Heidi Klum, Mary Lambert, Rose McGowan, Danica McKellar, Pat Monahan of Train, Olivia Munn, Kevin O'Leary, Pentatonix, Tracee Ellis Ross, Taylor Schilling and Meghan Trainor. Swift is receiving the honor for her record-setting sales. Titled "1989," her fifth album, released last month, became the singer's third album to sell more than 1 million units in its debut week. Dick Clark's widow, Kari Clark, said in a statement that "the first time Dick saw Taylor perform, he knew she was something special." The 2014 American Music Awards will broadcast live from the Nokia Theatre L.A. Live on Nov. 23 from 8 p.m. - 11 p.m. ET on ABC," explained the report.
