Bae Soo Bin's character is a jerk in the dramatic comedy "The Greatest Marriage" but he's so funny about it, it's hard to dislike him. He is responsible for Park Si Yeon's character getting fired from her job but can't help but care for and want to help her little boy.
His wild facial expressions are a far cry from his last role in the melodrama "Secrets," when he played a prosecutor whose descent into evil is slow and subtle. Even if viewers had never seen him in anything else, the difference between his acting in those two roles is enough to inspire curiosity about what he might do next.
He is currently considering another role but it's not yet known whether that drama is a comedy or a melodrama. According to his agency, BH Entertainment, he is considering the role of Cheon Woon Tak, the owner of Woon Tak Chicken, in the upcoming SBS drama "My Heart Shines." It's the story of two families who come together because of chicken, but the fluffy subject matter does not mean it's a comedy. It's also said to be a story of revenge.
It is a drama that has seen some controversy.
The role that Bae Soo Bin is currently considering was filled until very recently by actor Kim Soo Ro. Kim withdrew from the drama at the last minute because of a knee injury and back pain. The actor quit just before the first cast meeting between actors, writer and director.
Through his agency SM C&C, Kim apologized for leaving the producers in the lurch, saying that he had looked forward to working on the drama. He was concerned that his health might become an issue during the filming.
At about the same time actress Kim Jung Eun also pulled out of the drama. The actress and the drama's producers reportedly could not find a compromise to satisfy the actress' concerns about the importance of her role and the drama's theme.
After Kim Jung Eun dropped out of the drama, Son Eun Soo signed on to play the role Bae Soo Bin's little sister. Son previously appeared in "Love Rain," "May Queen" and "Her Legend."
The drama's production was delayed due to these casting changes. Production will begin as soon as Bae Soo Bin confirms his participation. If production can remain on schedule, "My Heart Shines" will follow "Birth of a Beauty" in January.
Oh Se Kyung will produce "My Heart Shines." Jo Jung Soon has written the screenplay.
