Taylor Swift has set records with her ultra-successful album "1989."
Amidst the explosive popularity of "1989," it has been reported that Taylor Swift, who was expected to play Joni Mitchell in the film adaption of the book Girls Like Us since 2012, will no longer be taking on the role of the legendary singer, according to Entertainment Weekly.
"I squelched that!," Joni Mitchell told The Sunday Times.
She continued, "I said to the producer, 'All you've got is a girl with high cheekbones. It's just a lot of gossip, you don't have the great scenes,' There's a lot of nonsense about me in books: assumptions, assumptions, assumptions."
Girls Like Us by Sheila Weller also reportedly looks at the lives of Carly Simon and Carole King. Jessica Pare from "Mad Men" was set to have played Simon while Alison Pill from "The Newsroom" was to take on the role of King, according to the media outlet KZOK.
There is no confirmation as to what the current status of the project is just yet.
Although we've probably all gotten at least one track from the ever-so-catchy "1989" stuck in our heads since the album's release, it seems that others are on Joni Mitchell's side when it comes to the recent decision regarding the film and Taylor Swift.
"Good for Joni, who can ACTUALLY sing," wrote Twitter user Melissa.
Fellow social media user Michael Failla commented, "I have to send Joni Mitchell love for doing this."
