What happened last week on "Constantine"? What should we look forward to for tonight's episode and the rest of the new season? Warning: spoilers ahead!
According to Hypable, "NBC have released a large amount of promotional stills for this week's episode of Constantine, "Rage of Caliban," which show John and Chas partnering up in Zed's absence. Things got interesting on last week's episode of Constantine. John, Chas, and Zed travelled to New Orleans to investigate reports that the dead have been rising - which is never a good thing. John manages to get into a spot of trouble with the law, via Detective Jim Corrigan, who believes it isn't a coincidence that he's at the scene of every crime. Eventually they discover that Papa Midnite's rituals have been going awry, and they broker an uneasy true to work together to put a stop to the vengeful spirits. With the blessing of their surviving relatives they manage to help the spirits pass over, and Papa Midnite offers John a warning. The harbinger of the Rising Darkness will be someone close to him. This week will see Constantine and Chas working together to exorcise a demon from a young child - which will likely bring back some bad memories of that night in Newcastle...From the stills this week we should expect to learn a little more about Constantine and Chas' friendship and how they work together, as Zed doesn't appear to be involved in exorcising the demon. There are some pretty gruesome scenes from the looks of things too, so they're really ramping up the horror aspect of the show. And yes, that is a cigarette dangling from John's lips."

"Anytime that you have a comic adaptation on television, one of the biggest challenges is easily going to be figuring out a way to tell interesting stories that harken to the source material, but also give you a little bit of something that appeals to the character in this new medium. Right now, we feel like that is what "Constantine" is working on, and why this show is gradually improving. We feel that there is a love there for the comics, but they are not pulling a "Gotham" and shoving it so far down our throats that we cannot see anything else. The new episode airing on NBC next week is entitled "Rage of Caliban," and hopefully it will continue this trend. For now, we can at least give you the synopsis below to make it clear what sort of struggle John is at present dealing with: "When a young boy is taken over by a malevolent spirit, John (Matt Ryan) must put aside his misgivings over exorcising a child and convince the parents that their boy is not all that he seems." The promo...gives you a little more insight into this, and also some action / Matt Ryan being awesome. Basically, this is everything that you were hoping to see on the show and then some when you first heard about it. We are still waiting for the show to take things to another level, but we'll give it time. "Arrow" is a great example of that, given that it really didn't pick things up until around episode eight or nine," reports Carter Matt.
It will certainly be interesting to see this season play out! Check out the exciting "Rage Of Caliban" (S01E06) preview video below:
