Marvel has already revealed the Phase 3 Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), and one of its biggest revelation is the "Avengers 3: Infinity Wars". Most of the moviegoers who always wait for the sequels of Marvel movies would think that every film on Marvel comic characters has connection.

But "Guardians" Director James Gunn said, "I don't feel beholden to that stuff at all. I think it's really about the 'Guardians' and what they are doing." Gunn stated this during an interview with MTV when asked if the "Guardians of the Galaxy" would tie in with other Marvel movies, particularly the "Avengers 3: Infinity Wars".

He added, "We're not subservient to the 'Avengers'. 'Guardians 2' is not a movie that's made to move toward ['The Avengers'] 'Infinity War'. It's something that's made to move toward future cosmic movies, so I don't feel that that is something that affects me that much."

Prior to revealing that Phase 3 MCU, rumors that the main, original cast of the 'Avengers', particularly Captain America and Thor, would not be included in the third sequel. This led to many speculations that the characters in "Guardians of the Galaxy", "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." and "Inhumans" story arcs would be in the third installment, especially that the "Captain America 3" would be concentrating in "Civil War" storyline.

However, in relation to the rumor, Iron Man would be the main character in the "Avengers 3: Infinity War" and other secondary characters would be joining the ingenious engineer Tony Stark.

This left speculations that Captain America, also known as Steve Rogers, would be killed by Crossbones in "Captain America: Civil War", especially now that the super villain character who is the archenemy of Captain America is confirmed to appear in the third sequel.

As of now, we can just stick to what Gunn said even though his recent post on Instagram shows the infinity stones that we can see in the third "Avengers".
