Actress Gauahar Khan was slapped by an audience member during the Raw Star grand finale for wearing a dress that the male thought was revealing, according to the Deccan Chronicle.

Since being slapped on stage, Gauahar Khan took to Twitter to thank her fans for the support that she’s been receiving.

“I thank all my fans, loved ones n imp voices of personalities tat hav supported me in dis traumatic time. May almighty bless us all,” wrote the Khan on her Twitter account.

Fans have commented on the stunning actress’ Twitter post, continuing their ongoing support for the television host.

“Love you so much!,” wrote Twtter user S.

Fellow social media user Divya Misra commented, “we all love you and let that guy Go to hell because its the perfect place for him!!”

The man who slapped Gauahar Khan was identified as 24-year-old Akil Malik, who reportedly took offense at the model’s outfit, according to the U.K’s The Independent. He reportedly got up out of his seat to threaten and assault her live on air.

“Being a Muslim woman, she should not have worn such a short dress,” the Mumbai police quoted Malik as saying.

It is reportedly unclear how Malik managed to move through the 2,500 member audience and 250 guards that were present in the studio. Malik was reportedly arrested and charged with molestation under Section 354 of the Indian Penal Code.

Khan spoke out for the first time since the assault, stating, “I can still feel the fire on my cheeks. I am here with a swollen face not to gain sympathy but to bring forth the truth.”

She continued, “I have always stood up for many issues and I am not one to keep quiet. But why on earth did God have to choose me to be part of such a ghastly act?”
