A 65-year-old woman was reportedly shot with arrows by her son and was found dead in her home on Sunday morning, stated police, according to the Digital Journal.
The son, 42-year-old Michael Watkins, reportedly stated that he shot the woman with arrows and killed her because she stole diamonds from him and because he believed that she had given his father cancer, according the media outlet.
Aside from being shot with arrows, the Florida woman, Gloria Watkins, was reportedly stabbed and shot with a gun.
The Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office reportedly received a call at 2:48 a.m. on Sunday reporting a man knocking over Christmas decorations and yelling at another person, according to The Associated Press. The deputies reportedly found the Florida woman slumped forward in a chair with arrows protruding from her head.
Michael Watkins reportedly claimed that "he had to kill her because she was trying to kill him," the report stated. The man was reportedly charged with murder and resisting arrest without violence as the sheriff's office stated that Watkins ignored repeated commands to get on the ground.
After following commands, he reportedly stood up and retrieved a large knife from a sheath on his belt, stated authorities.
Deputies reportedly had to use stun guns on Watkins twice.
An autopsy was reportedly to be conducted on the victim.
