What should we look forward to for tonight's episode (S01E08)? Warning: spoilers ahead!
According to the CW press release, "Barry is thrilled when Oliver, Felicity and Diggle come to Central City to investigate a case involving a deadly boomerang. Excited about teaming up with his friend, Barry asks Oliver if he'd like to help him stop Ray Bivolo (guest star Patrick Sabongui), the meta-human Barry is currently tracking. Bivolo causes people to lose control of their emotions and has been using that skill to rob banks. Unfortunately, the superhero partnership doesn't go as smoothly as Barry expected. When Oliver tells Barry he still has a lot to learn, Barry sets out to prove him wrong by attempting to stop Bivolo alone. However, when Bivolo infects Barry and sets him on a rage rampage, everyone is in danger, and the only one who can stop him is the Arrow. Meanwhile, Iris is furious when Eddie tries to get a task force to stop The Flash, Joe and Dr. Wells agree the Arrow is a bad influence on Barry, and Caitlin and Cisco deal with a new team in S.T.A.R. Labs."

"The inevitable "Flash"-"Arrow" crossover - airing on consecutive nights, Dec. 2 and 3 - does a nifty job of bringing the two series together, although probably not in a manner likely to boost the shared audience between them much more than already exists. Give considerable credit to producer/showrunners Greg Berlanti and Andrew Kreisberg, who have grappled with the always challenging task of introducing a hero with genuine super powers - not just Arrow's cool weapons and elaborate backstory - without eliciting giggles in the wrong places. Part of that has to do with the vulnerability Gustin exhibits as Barry Allen, the young (too young, but let's get over that) CSI blessed with incredible speed through an experiment gone wrong, one that also birthed an assortment of "meta-humans" with their own strange gifts, thus giving him - in much the way "Smallville" relied on the after-effects of the meteor shower that brought Clark Kent to Earth - a stable of worthy adversaries. The producers have also done an admirable job of incorporating facsimiles of the DC villains without costumes or funky nicknames (the latter has become a running joke) that might stop the uninitiated in their tracks. So Captain Cold can make his presence felt, and now - in the crossover - Captain Boomerang, while still maintaining a menacing posture," explains Variety.
USA Today adds, "Barry Allen (Grant Gustin), Central City's fastest man alive, is no stranger to Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell), Starling City's resident vigilante - Barry first appeared on Arrow's second season a year ago, an introduction to the young hero before his own Flash show debuted to record ratings in September. The shows have traded characters since then - for example, Queen confidante Felicity Smoak (Emily Bett Rickards) recently took a train ride to visit Barry and his pals at STAR Labs, Dr. Wells (Tom Cavanaugh), Caitlin Snow (Danielle Panabaker) and Cisco Ramon (Carlos Valdes). In the crossover, the Flash's crew reaches out to Oliver and his team - Felicity, Diggle (David Ramsey) and Arsenal (Colton Haynes) - to deal with a superpowered threat in Starling CIty, but everybody also convenes to track down Digger Harkness, a character who wields high-tech boomerangs and is based on one of the Flash's Rogues from the comics. There's teamwork but also some friction between the heroes...So how does even a physical specimen of a bowman deal with somebody who could move at Mach 1? Oliver has to use his experience and play on Barry's overconfidence, according to Amell. Plus, Barry may not take him seriously and the same goes for his team, the Arrow star says. "That's something we touch on in the crossover: Everything's cool in Central City and you're giving your villains funny nicknames but these are life-and-death situations and you have to remember that." Adds Gustin: "When it comes down to regular old fistfighting, Oliver's probably going to kick Barry's ass." Even though both shows live in a shared universe, keeping the tones of both - the dark and violent Arrow compared to the brighter Flash - was important in the crossover, according to the Flash actor."

What should we look forward to for tomorrow night's continuation of the special "Flarrow" crossover event? According to the synopsis for "The Brave and the Bold," Part 2 of "The Flash" and "Arrow" crossover, "Oliver, Arsenal and Diggle track down the location of a boomerang-wielding killer named Digger Harkness (guest star Nick Tarabay) but are surprised when they come face to face with an A.R.G.U.S. team. Diggle asks Lyla why A.R.G.U.S. is involved but she defers until Harkness attacks the building, killing several agents and targeting Lyla. The Arrow joins the fight and gets help from an old friend The Flash. Harkness manages to get away and Oliver teams up with Barry again to find him before he can get to Lyla. When Harkness plants five bombs in the city that are timed to explode at the same time, both teams must come together to save the city."
