Fans of "The Originals" season 2 may have rejoiced at Rebekah's (Claire Holt) return in episode eight but her comeback doesn't bode well for the Mikaelson matriarch, Esther (Sonja Sohn).
Although she was the most susceptible to take on Esther's offer for a new, mortal life with her desire to become normal, she will surprisingly decide to do the opposite in this Monday's midseason finale.
According to executive producer Michael Narducci via an interview with ET Online, Rebekah will reportedly play an important role in the plan to take down their mother once and for all.
"So for Rebekah, who has cared for Hope for the past several months, she is going to have a very strong protective instinct and is going to decide to get involved in the take-down of Esther. That will be the big big story point for her in this episode," he revealed.
"The Map Of Moments" will see the Mikaelson siblings gathered together thanks to the danger posed on Hope.
After finding out about the sacrifice that Esther had to give her sister to cure her infertility, Klaus (Joseph Morgan) decided to advise Rebekah to go to the safe house which had been "cloaked with magic" to ward off their mother.
This little reunion will be short-lived, however, with Esther still attempting to kill Hope. She also sought out an alliance with her husband, Mikael, (Sebastian Roche) who had been regaining his strength during his absence and is just all too eager to help Esther as long as he can have his hands on Klaus.
Esther's threat isn't the only complication that Klaus has to face in "The Originals" season 2. He will also have to deal with Hayley's (Phoebe Tonkin) decision to marry Jackson (Nathan Parsons).
In the last episode, Hayley agreed to do a commitment ceremony with Jackson in order to share her powers to their fellow werewolves.
According to Joseph Morgan, however, Klaus won't be too happy about this. Especially since the hybrid is "possibly a little resentful of the wolves."
"Maybe that's where this thing with Jackson comes from as well you know because he's an outcast to them," he told TV Fanatic. Being a vampire and a werewolf made him a freak to other wolves.
"I've been called vampire in this series so many times," Morgan added. "I've never been called wolf."
Meanwhile, avid viewers will be able to at least see Klaus become a doting father to Hope in "The Originals" season 2 midseason finale before the siblings continue with their plan to eliminate Esther.
