This "CSI Las Vegas" season 15 recap for episode 9 highlights the dangers of making deals within a dysfunctional system full of corrupt individuals.

"Let's Make A Deal" takes DB Russell's team into the Clark County jail for a murder case that isn't exactly what it seems.

Bruce Grady, an inmate with liver cirrhosis is found dead with a stab wound stuffed inside the laundry room closet. At first, the CSIs think that the stabbing killed him but after further investigation, they find out that he was actually choked to death.

Who killed him? They zero in on a particular inmate who the victim was supposed to testify against - a thug assassin who admits to stabbing him but not to killing him.

Later on, they find out that Grady was actually a police informant - for both the police and for the FBI. Apparently, the Feds are actually in the middle of investigating a detective who has been making deals with inmates to win his cases in court.

He feeds Grady with false information to testify in court against his fellow inmates. The sick man gets a lower conviction in return.

Sherriff Conrad calls out new Detective Carl Brenner (who the FBI is also investigating) for his corruption and for attempting to kill his own informant (Grady) by giving him medicine that would worsen his disease. He denies strangling him, however.

The "CSI Las Vegas" season 15 recap comes to a head when the team finally figure out that another inmate was actually the one who strangled the dead man and he wasn't part of any bureaucratic back deals whatsoever.

Pete McCrone was Bruce Grady's first victim. His rape charges had been lowered to a misdemeanor thanks to a plea bargain he made with the District Attorney.

Pete witnessed Grady getting threatened and only remembered him by his voice that was ingrained in him since the traumatic attack all those years ago. Overcome with anger, he killed the already bleeding man.

The clincher, however, is that Pete was only in jail for a misunderstanding. His child endangerment charges had been dropped but delayed processing of his papers had him locked up far longer than necessary. Now, he'll stay in prison even longer for murder.

The whole episode only showed how a dysfunctional judiciary system - coupled with corruption - can affect the lives of the most innocent of victims.
