Jackie Chan's son has been formally charged for his drug crimes. Jaycee Chan is currently facing up to three years in prison, and his "Rush Hour" actor father said that he will not use his connections to bail out his son.

According to a report from CNN, legal proceedings have begun to convict Jackie Chan's son for the crime of sheltering others to take drugs.

The 32-year-old was busted by Beijing police last August during a raid in Dongcheng district. The place is Beijing's commercial and cultural center, and was where Jaycee Chan was arrested together with 23 year-old Taiwanese actor Kai Ko.

Both celebrities came out positive after being tested for marijuana. Later on, cops discovered more than 100 grams of marijuana in Jaycee Chan's apartment.

While his companion was only detained for 14 days in administrative detention, Jackie Chan's son has been under police custody since he was arrested last year. According to an earlier report from Malaysia Chronicle, the action star's son recently celebrated his 32nd birthday in jail without a visit from his family.

Chinese law orders that he first needs to go through trial and be sentenced before he can receive visitors. As a result, Jackie Chan was reportedly not allowed to see his son on his birthday.

Malaysia Chronicle also reported that the aspiring actor and singer has undergone a significant change in prison. Jackie Chan's son's newfound interest in reading has reportedly inspired him to write songs and stories to make the most out of his prison stay.

Jackie Chan is hopeful that his son would recover from his drug ordeal.

"I hope that in the future, he could become an anti-drug spokesman and tell his experiences to young people," the movie star reportedly said, according to Reuters.

The well-loved celebrity also pointed out that he will not use any of his connections to bail out his son from the drug case.
