It looks like the Elder Scrolls Online release date has finally been confirmed and that the PC version of the game could be going the free-to-play route.
Microsoft has officially confirmed the Elder Scrolls Online release date for Xbox One to be on February 24, 2015.
VG 24/7 reported that the official Microsoft store listing for the Elder Scrolls Online notes that its release date is going to be on February 24, 2015. It can be assumed that the PS4 is going to be released at the same date.
VG 24/7 also reported that ZeniMax Onine admitted that the current build of the game was "steadily working" and is in a "playable and fun" state at the studio.
"There's still some work to do before we can set an official launch date," says Matt Firor of ZeniMax.
Matt Firor also notes that the console versions of the game are not straight ports of the PC and Mac version of the game but that the PC user interface has been replaced with a console-specific UI designed from the ground-up with "a controller and a living room play experience in mind."
Meanwhile, there has been some speculation as to whether the PC version of the Elder Scrolls Online would be going free to play.
As was reported by PCGamesN:
"There are small bits of evidence that the Elder Scrolls Online might be shifting to a free to play model; it's been recalled from stores in Australia and New Zealand and you can no longer buy six month subscriptions for the MMO. This doesn't confirm an impending shift to free-to-play but it does hint towards it."
While the reports states that this is NOT a confirmation of the Elder Scrolls Online being free-to-play but this could be a hint that it may go free-to-play in the future.
