Will LA Lakers guard Jeremy Lin benefit from Kobe Bryant's injury? The playing time for "Linsanity" has been erratic at best, and was even listed as DNP during the recent game the defending champs, San Antonio Spurs.
Adi Joseph wrote for USA Today that it's time for the LA Lakers to turn to Jeremy Lin now that Kobe Bryant was injured and shut down for the season.
"Lin is the player the Lakers need right now, need if they're going to stay competitive with a roster that looks like a No. 8 seed's bench," he wrote. "He's not Bryant, but he is more amenable and humble, and letting him run the show could open things up for big men Jordan Hill, Ed Davis and Tarik Black."
While he's not the same player during the Linsanity years in New York, Jeremy Lin has made some strides in his shooting range, which is presently a career-best of 36.3% from behind the arc, as well as cutting down on his turnover rate.
Jeremy Lin was benched during San Antonio Spurs game and he wasn't too happy about it that he asked for a meeting with Byron Scott, said Mercury News.
"I'm human. I got emotions," he said. "I show up and do my best to play and work hard. But it definitely hurts. It's discouraging sometimes and disappointing. All of those emotions, of course. I don't think anybody would feel great after a DNP, no matter who you are."
On Sunday's loss to the Houston Rockets, Jeremy Lin played 28 minutes and scored 14 points on 2-9 shooting. He also dished six assists and three turnovers. However, the article said that Byron Scott wants to accelerate Jordan Clarkson's development so he's likely going to stay at the starting lineup.
According to USA Today, Jeremy Lin's play during the Linsanity era "were reckless and dynamic and didn't often involve lifting his head up to find an open teammate." However, the article noted that "they were thrilling and successful for some of those same reasons."
