We compare the Samsung Galaxy S5 MIni against the Motorola Droid mini to see which smartphone is the better purchase.
According the spec from GSMArena, the Galaxy S5 Mini has bigger screen than its rival at 4.5 inches, and its Super AMOLED screen can render a resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels at a 326 ppi pixel density. Its dimensions are 131.1 x 64.8 x 9.1 mm, and weighs around 120 grams.
While, the Motorola Droid Mini has 4.3 inch TFT display which can render the same resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels, but ist pixel density is greater at 342 ppi. It weighs heavier at 130 grams with dimensions of 121.3 x 61.3 x 8.9 mm, and has the Corning Gorilla Glass for protection.
For the hardware and OS, the Fuse Joplin stated that Motorola Droid mini is equipped with dual-core processor at 1.7 GHz, being powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro chipset, and an Adreno 320 GPU. It RAM capacity is at 2 GB, a 16 GB internal memory, and runs on the Android OS, v4.2 (Jelly Bean), upgradable to v4.4.4 (KitKat), and will have the v5.0 (Lollipop) upgrade soon.
The Galaxy S5 Mini is equipped with quad-core clocked at 1.4 GHz, partnered with a Exynos 3 Quad 3470 chipset, and Mali-400MP4 GPU. The Samsung device has also 16 GB of internal memory with a RAM capacity of 1.5 GB, but it can expand up to 64 GB with a microSD card. Its software is the Android OS, v4.4.2 (KitKat), which will be upgraded to the v5.0 (Lollipop).
The Motorola handset has better primary camera at 10MP, while the Samsung handset is at 8MP. However, the S5 Mini has 2.1MP secondary camera, while the Droid Mini is at 2MP. The S5 Mini's battery is at 2100 mAh, that can last 10 hours in 3G, while the Droid Mini is at 2000 mAh, but can last up to 28 hours.
According to Amazon.com, the Motorola Droid Mini 16GB version is at $299.99, while the Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini is more expensive at $410.
