On February 2, representatives for Hallyu star Lee Min Ho denied rumors that he would be starring in the upcoming Chinese film “Raid.” If the actor accepted the role, he would have starred opposite Hollywood actor Brad Pitt. Chinese stars Zhang Hanwei and Fan Bingbing have also been named as possible actors for the film.

“Raid” is a high budget action film which tells the true story of the struggles faced by the United States Air Force and the Chinese Liberation Army during conflicts in World War II. According to Chinese media reports, “Raid” has received $100 million from investors.

A representative for his agency denied that the actor would be involved in the upcoming film. His agency admitted that the offer for the project had been made but it was universally turned down. The agency stated, “Many proposals are coming in from China but the next project has not been decided yet.” His agency also noted that he is currently considering future drama roles, in addition to starring in another film.

He is represented by Starhaus Entertainment in Korea and Huayi Brothers for promotional activities in the Chinese market.

Offers for upcoming projects have most likely increased following the commercial success of his recent film “Gangnam 1970.” “Gangnam 1970” marked his film debut, following on the explosive reception of “The Heirs.” Speculation has surrounded his next project, with the actor recently admitting that he would prefer to choose a drama role over another movie.

“Raid” follows the upcoming Chinese-Korean-Hollywood release “Dragon Blade” which stars Jackie Chan, John Cusak, Adrien Brody, and Super Junior's Choi Siwon. “Dragon Blade” may serve as a barometer for future projects which have the potential to reach Hollywood and pan-Asian markets.
