Many have been following the murder case of British student Meredith Kercher since her reported death in November 2007 as well as the trials of Amanda Knox, her American housemate and Raffaele Sollecito, Knox’s Italian boyfriend, according to the U.K’s The Telegraph.
The now 27-year-old Amanda Knox and 30-year-old Sollecito were reportedly found guilty after a retrial of the case in March 2013, but the two will not be imprisoned until Italy’s Supreme Court upholds the guilty verdict.
While she awaits the final verdict, which could be reached as early as March, Amanda Knox is reportedly living in West Seattle and working as a freelance reporter for the West Seattle Herald. Knox reportedly approached the weekly newspaper to ask if she could cover local theatre productions.
“It doesn’t matter what people say or think — the truth is that she’s a West Seattle resident, she grew up here,” West Seattle Herald’s web editor, Patrick Robinson, told the Daily Beast.
He added, “Why not give her the opportunity to be an actual human being versus a celebrity?”
Knox also reportedly completed her studies at the University of Washington and graduated with a degree in creative writing last year. If the guilty conviction is upheld in Italy’s Supreme Court, Knox and Sollecito will reportedly be sent to prison for 28.5 years and 25 years respectively.
A petition made by the supporters of Amanda Knox is reportedly circulating, asking for a formal inquiry into the murder case of Meredith Kercher, according to the Christian Post. The petition is reportedly a part of an article that claims that Knox was a victim of a “witch hunt” initiated by Perugian prosecutor Giuliano Mignini.
Knox has clearly stated that she has no intention of returning to Italy.
“I will never go willingly back,” Knox stated during an interview on Good Morning America.
She added, “I’m going to fight this to the very end.”
