Things may not be looking too good for “Thor 3.”
A Reddit user who reportedly claimed to be a former Marvel employee stated that the “Thor” films are being treated as if in “critical condition,” according to Cinema Blend. The user of the media website reportedly stated that many considered “Thor” not to have the right balance with its humor and “Thor: The Dark World” to have too many behind-the-scenes “issues.”
According to this post, Marvel is reportedly now looking for a director for “Thor 3.”
“Marvel is looking for a director who will treat the Thor franchise with a lot of respect. Taking in the source material more, and dropping characters like Darcy who Marvel sees as being ‘forcefully manufactured,’” wrote the Reddit user.
As for possible directors, Adam McKay is reportedly in the running, according to the user. The possibility of McKay taking on the role of director for the “Thor” franchise might make sense, as he has reportedly done the re-write for “Ant-Man.”
Gareth Edwards, who has directed “Godzilla,” is reportedly a potential person to take on the role as well. However, with “Star Wars” and “Godzilla 2” under his belt, Edwards may not have time for “Thor 3.”
There is speculation that Thor’s place in the world of Marvel may change greatly due to the release of “Ant-Man,” “Doctor Strange” and “Guardians of the Galaxy 2,” according to Screenrant. In regards to the plot, the storyline for the 2017 film is still unknown.
When Hemsworth was asked by Digital Spy if he could share the changes Thor will be going through in the near future, the actor denied giving any details.
“No, I can’t. But also, there is no script for ‘Thor,’ the next ‘Thor,’ so I have no idea,” explained the “Blackhat” actor.
The screenwriters for “Thor 3” also known as “Thor: Ragnarok” are reportedly Craig Kyle and Christopher Yost. Yost reportedly co-wrote “Thor: The Dark World.”
