Not that news of Loki's impending death somewhere down the Marvel Cinematic Universe is a surpise to anyone, a new "Thor 3: Ragnarok" theory has emerged saying that Loki will indeed be killed off sooner or later.
According to Cinema Blend, there are still a lot of characters revolving around Thor's, and with Loki in the picture, it would seem hard to give the others a fair chance at the spotlight. The site pointed out that it could be one of the reasons why Marvel could eventually get rid of Loki in the 3rd Thor flick.
"Given that Thor: The Dark World ended with Loki sitting on the throne of Asgard with Thor none the wiser, Thor 3 is most certainly going to have a plot involving the God of Mischief (be it Ragnarok or another), but it could be in Marvel Studios' best interest if they end the villain's arc there. Thor comics are filled with all kinds of cinematic possibilities, from the story of Beta Rey Bill (one of the few individuals in existence other than Thor who can lift Mjolnir) to the hero's battles against The Enchantress and The Executioner, and if Loki isn't around as a distraction, the movies can give these characters the cinematic treatment they deserve," the site noted.
It has also been suggested that since Tom Hiddleston, who plays Loki in the franchise, has been quite busy with more projects this year, it would be highly likely that he'd give his notable Marvel character a rest for good. Hiddleston is slated to star in Legendary Pictures' new film "Skull Island."
Meanwhile, other "Thor3: Ragnarok" reports suggest a very interesting back story to the Ragnarok involving a power hungry Thor.
"The backstory features Thor inheriting the Odinpower after Odin basically dies during a battle with the fire demon Surtur. Puffed up with this power, Thor goes a little bit crazy, extending the rule of Asgard to rule of Earth, and spends a couple hundred years as an all-powerful and not-at-all cool deity. Eventually he basically said 'oops!' and traveled back in time to wipe out that whole storyline," Slash Film noted.
"So, as Thor gets back to Asgard, a variation on the quest from Lord of the Rings is playing out. The mold that created Mjolnir still exists, and could potentially be used to make other serious weapons...Loki intercepts the mold. Loki has new weapons made, and with a force of powerful allies he attacks Thor and friends. In the first attack Mjolnir is broken, and the subsequent war basically destroys Asgard," the article continued.
"Thor 3: Ragnarok" is slated for a July 28, 2017 release.
