Suge Knight reportedly pleaded not guilty to murder, attempted murder and two counts of felony hit-and-run on Tuesday, according to Reuters.
The daughter of Terry Carter, one of the victims in the hit-and-run, recently spoke about her father’s death, stating that she wants “justice” in the case, according to the NY Daily News.
Services for the 55-year-old Carter have reportedly been set for Saturday at noon at the First African Methodist Episcopal Church in Los Angeles, relatives reportedly stated.
“It is with heavy hearts that the family of Terry Carter announce our Celebration of Terry Carter’s Life and Legacy,” stated Carter’s cousin, Avis Ridley-Thomas.
Relatives reportedly explained that while Carter and Suge Knight did know each other, the two men were not close and did not have a business connection. Police reportedly stated that, according to witnesses, Knight allegedly remained in his truck throughout the hit-and-run.
The former rap mogul reportedly reversed into one victim, knocking the man down, and then ran back over the first victim and rammed into the second victim, a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s homicide investigate told The News.
David Kenner, Knight’s lawyer, reportedly stated that his client was “remorseful” regarding the hit-and-run.
“[Knight] was being attacked and was trying to get away from that attack. He feels bad that somebody that he knew is deceased, [but] it’s not his fault.” explained Kenner.
A lawyer for the second victim, Cle “Bone” Sloan, reportedly told the Los Angeles Times that he was considering filing a civil lawsuit against Knight.
Knight is reportedly due back in court next Monday for a bail review hearing. His bond is reportedly set at $2 million.
Knight has reportedly returned to jail from a Los Angeles-area hospital late on Wednesday after being hospitalized due to chest pains, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department stated.
