New "Pirates of the Caribbean 5" cast confirmed as production kicks off this month.
Production for "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales" jumpstarts this February, with most of the work rumored to be filmed in Australia. In addition to the long-overdue updates, there's also new "Pirates of the Caribbean 5" cast to join the ensemble.
The fifth installment to the "Pirates of the Caribbean" saga is rumored to go back to the roots of the story, which somewhat deviated from the main arc in "On Stranger Tides." The new movie will instead follow through on the possibilities explored on "At World's End," pulling in the Will Turner character, and his son.
Orlando Bloom was hotly rumored to return, and with his character's resurrection almost certain, it's likely the actor will reprise his role on the movie, this time as the cursed Davy Jones.
Geoffrey Rush is confirmed to return alongside Depp, and Academy Award winner Javier Bardem is pegged for a villain role.
A couple of young newcomers were previously reported as part of the cast as well, Brenton Thwaites and Kaya Scodelario; Thwaites is rumored for the role of Turner's son.
New reports involve three more actors into the fold, with roles yet to be confirmed: Adam Brown, Delroy Atkinson, and Danny Kirrane.
Filming for "Pirates of the Caribbean 5" starts mid-February, based on Jerry Bruckheimer's Jan. 30 tweet. The post included a photo of production on the set, in Queensland, Australia.
The Australian government reportedly offered Walt Disney Studios a hefty $21.6 million as incentive for choosing it as filming location for "20,000 Leagues Under The Sea," a project which was scrapped. The funding was funneled into "Pirates of the Caribbean 5" instead.
The "Pirates of the Caribbean 5" release date holds on July 7 2017, with a cast of new and returning characters featured, alongside staple Johnny Depp (screenrant.com).
