Mark Hamill in "Star Wars 7" will likely be a complement to the new generation cast instead of overshadowing their characters, the actor confessed in an interview.
It's long confirmed the Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, and Princess Leia characters will make a comeback on part 7 of the Star Wars saga, but it's likely their return would be more of a nod to the series, at least as far as Mark Hamill in "Star Wars 7" is concerned.
John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, and Oscar Isaac are expected to play pivotal roles in "The Force Awakens," setting up the story arc for parts 8 and 9. Hamill said it would've been all good to him if Disney decided to exclude the main cast of the preceding trilogy from part 7, but their involvement helps maintain the scope and continuity of the saga.
"I would have been completely okay with it not including us, but I do think having the original cast members there gives it a sense of continuity and scope," Hamill said in an interview with the LA Times. "But mind you, it's really about the new generation, it's not about us."
The new movie's trailer fanned the hype for the J.J. Abrams adaptation, with a few of the previewed details even contested in fandom. Hamill insisted fans take it easy and keep their anticipation at bay.
"Believe me, it will be here before you know it," he said.
"Forget about it - that's my advice. Look forward to all the summer movies. I'm telling you, it's just a movie. These people that build it up in their minds like it's going to be the second coming of, I don't know what - they're bound to be disappointed."
The "Star Wars: the Force Awakens" release date stays locked on Dec. 18, with an ensemble of new and returning actors. The movie is released by Disney, which acquired the rights from Lucasfilm (screenrant.com).
