The humor hasn't left the couple, especially now that Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively are married: the "Green Lantern" co-stars were candid about their relationship, even taking issues lightly as far as their celebrity status is concerned.
The actor said in an interview he'd use his wife as a human shield just to protect their baby's safety, but it's not an indication Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively just got married and now calling it quits.
"I used to say to [Blake], 'I would take a bullet for you. I could never love anything as much as I love you,'" the "Deadpool" star said in an interview with David Letterman. "I would say that to my wife. And the second I looked in that baby's eyes, I knew in that exact moment that if we were ever under attack, I would use my wife as a human shield to protect that baby." Reynolds even compared Lively to a human Denny's restaurant of sorts, especially when it comes to rearing their new baby.
"[As] the guy, I'm just like a diaper-changing facility hooked up to a life-support system. But my wife, she's breakfast, lunch, and dinner," the "Green Lantern" star said.
"She's a human Denny's, all day long and all night long. Romantic right? She's the most beautiful Denny's you've ever seen, though."
The couple has yet to disclose their baby's name, but Reynolds was quick to point out theirs was a totally average baby; in joking fashion, of course.
Reynolds guested in "Live! With Kelly (Ripa) and Michael (Strahan)," where he told the hosts he delightfully considers their baby average in comparison to everyone else's.
"Everyone thinks their baby's a genius," the 38 year old actor said. "People find it delightfully refreshing when I tell them, 'My baby? Totally average. 100 percent average.'" (usmagazine.com)
Ripa commented Reynolds actually smelled of baby powder during the interview, something the actor has apparently come to terms with.
"Yeah, that's not going to change anytime soon. If I don't get any sleep soon, I'll change that to arsenic."
