New updates for Marvel Studio's first female lead superhero film, Captain Marvel have been revealed as Marvel will have a new director handling the project.
According to reports from ComicBook.com, Marvel Studios wanted Angelina Jolie to direct the Captain Marvel film as Screenrant further adds that she could fit the mold given the success of her Oscar-nominated film "Unbroken" which earned the interest of Marvel to hire for $20 million dollars. Warner Bros. and DC already had Michelle MacLaren to direct "Wonder Woman" the movie, so Marvel strategy to hire Jolie will be good idea for them to level the playing field.
But that's not all, the Inquisitr reports that executive editorial director for Marvel Digital Media Group, Ryan Penagos teased the possible role of Carol Danvers to "Game of Thrones" star Natalie Dormer.
Yahoo UK News further adds that Dormer didn't deny her interest in doing comic book based movies.
“I’m not going to comment about potential jobs in the future because that’s a rabbit hole to go down and get caught up in, but all I’ll say is I’ll go where the good scripts are. For me, Catching Fire, Game Of Thrones, all my other work, I’ll just go where the good scripts are.”
She further adds, “I love being part of huge mega blockbusters and I love being a part of small independent films and small stage. I’m just looking at the material. I want to know the character and I want to know the text, and then the decision I make from there.”
The Inquistr revealed that Marvel fans liked the idea of Dormer being Carol Danvers in the film as other contenders for role includes Ronda Rousey, Kathryn Winnick, Gina Carano, Jessica Biel, and many more.
But Captain Marvel movie won't be Carol Danvers' first appearance. It was previously reported by Screenrant that she is rumored to appear in Captain America: Civil War, going so far as being a member of Cap's "New Avengers" team.
Will just have to wait for more updates from Marvel Studios soon as Captain Marvel will be in movie theatres on July 6, 2018.
