The world cried along with Davina (Danielle Campbell), Elijah (Daniel Gillies), Klaus (Joseph Morgan) and Rebekah (Masie Richardson-Sellers) when Kol (Daniel Sharman) took his last breath last Monday. Is the youngest Mikaelson officially written off "The Originals" season 2 script?
According to executive producer Michael Narducci, the show's avid viewers are not the only ones upset over Kol's heartbreaking death.
"Yeah, we're bummed about it, too," he told E! Online about one of last Monday's shocking twists. "The moment we came to it was when we realized that in order to create stakes of what Finn was willing to do and the danger that he poses, someone had to suffer."
It seems that saying goodbye to Kol (at least as Sharman) was necessary to the plot. Does this mean that the mischievous Mikaelson brother will never come back to the show? On the other hand, could this open an opportunity for the CW to bring back Nathaniel Buzolic as the original Kol?
Narducci teased that Sharman could still come back - as a ghost. Rebekah promised to try and bring his soul "back home" while Davina will definitely "try and take charge and do something about it via the spirits of the witch ancestors."
As for Buzolic's return, fans can count on seeing the vampire Kol again in "The Originals" season 2.
"We certainly haven't seen the last of flashbacks that deal with Kol and his story and his family," the producer shared. "In those ways, fans of Kol can rest assured that his story on 'The Originals' is long from finished."
Whether we can see Daniel Sharman as Kol again or not, he definitely did so much for the character's journey throughout the season.
"We're sad to see him go. But at the same time, the Kol, in his hands, has evolved," Narducci added.
