Kevin Garnett has yet to don on the uniform of the Minnesota Timberwolves, which acquired him via trade. And yet his younger teammates are already afraid of the returning player.
High flyer Zach Lavine might have wowed judges when he won the 2015 Slam Dunk competition, yet he's going to have to impress Kevin Garnett, a renowned workhorse and no-nonsense player who demands the highest effort from everybody.
Unfortunately, the 19-year-old has the misfortune of being assigned to Kevin Garnett's old locker.
""This is his locker and I'm actually kind of scared because I think he is going to say something about me being in his locker," young Zach LaVine told Twin Cities.
Zach Lavine reportedly offered to vacate the locker.
"I did more than offer; I wanted him to take it. I wanted him to sit there. I said, 'I'll move!' But it's going to be great for me; I know that," he said. "Future hall of famer, man, everyone wants to get to his level. He was playing in this league before I was born!"
Coach Flip Saunders also said that from now on, the Timberwolves-who has the youngest median age for NBA players-will have to follow Kevin Garnett's lead.
"As one of our veteran guys told our young guys yesterday, 'Hey, listen, when KG walks in the locker room your phones better be tucked away," he said. "Because if they're not, they're going to get thrown in the toilet on game night.'"
Ultimately, however, his Timberwolves teammates have every right to be afraid since Kevin Garnett is rumored to be planning to buy out owner Glen Taylor.
According to Business Insider, returning Timberwolves player Kevin Garnett wants to use the over $300 million he amassed to eventually buy the team, along with coach Flip Saunders, and the group that they will form to raise the capital.
