Lady Gaga, the "Born This Way" singer is set to return to the small screen in a much more terrifying role this October.
FX confirmed Gaga's star role Wednesday, Feb. 25 after the singer announced on Twitter that she will appear in the fifth season of FX's "American Horror Story." Lady Gaga revealed the fifth chapter of the anthology series would be called "Hotel."
The singer tweeted, "Make your reservation now."
According to RollingStone, "American Horror Story" represents not only the singer's first reoccurring role but also marks the first time where she wasn't "As Herself" on a television show. The "Born This Way" singer had headline-grabbing cameos in films such as "Sin City: A Dame to Kill For," "Muppets Most Wanted," and "Machete Kills."
Lady Gaga, born Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta, becomes the first confirmed casting for the FX anthology. According to The Hollywood Reporter, AHS vets leading ladies such as Jessica Lange, Sarah Paulson and Emma Roberts are not likely return to the franchise owing to other commitments. That said, considering Roberts and Paulson were both cast in Murphy-led projects, "Scream Queens" and "American Crime Story: The People V. O.J. Simpson," there is a probability that the show runner could play with the schedules and bring them back in to the fold.
The Hollywood Reported noted that Gaga also becomes the latest pop star to join one of Murphy's show following former American Idol breakout Adam Lambert nabbed a recurring role on Fox's "Glee."
Although the season five premise is not yet revealed, the season's subtitle is typically announced during PaleyFest in March. Her role comes after the fourth incarnation of the anthology, "Freak Show," featured many musical performances by cast members Evan Peters, Sarah Paulson and Lange.
The announcement of Gaga's first tv role comes after she received numerous rave reviews for her Oscar performance of several songs from "The Sound of Music." Gaga, 28, is also set to go on tour with 88-year-old Tony Bennett for the next few months.
Produced by Brad Falchuk and Ryan Murphy, "American Horror Story: Hotel" is set to premiere on October.
