The folks from FOX's "Empire" have just released a new sneak-peek preview for next Wednesday's "Unto The Breach," and it's clear that it's an episode you do not want to miss. As Jussie Smollett who plays Jamal explains, "[Episode 9] is when stuff starts to really hit the fan!" Guest starring Estelle and Judd Nelson, "Unto The Breach" will see drama erupting between all of the Lyons. "Empire's" Season 1 finale is quickly approaching, and Episode 9 shows that the FOX series won't be slowing down at all in the next three episodes. Check out the awesome "First Look" preview video for Episode 9, called "Unto The Breach," to see what you should expect next Wednesday! Warning: major Season 1 spoilers ahead!
In the "First Look" preview video, "Terrence Howard, Taraji P. Henson and Jussie Smollett talk about Anika's revenge, Jamal's power play and Andre's crossroads. All-new WED 9/8c MAR 4!"
"Lucious, she playin' you. She workin' with Beretti. Tell him, Booboo Kitty," sneers Cookie as she calls Anika out on her backstabbing secret.
"It's all out war. Beretti's trying to poach our artists," explains Taraji P. Henson.
We then see Lucious confronting his rival Beretti angrily. "You started it. Now, I'm gonna finish it," he warns.
Jussie Smollett then explains the situation the company is in, saying "In 109, we start to see complete chaos inside of the company, with Beretti coming after us. You really see the family put their differences aside."
Although the drama within the family continues to fester, the Lyons are steadfast in their desire to save the company. "Watching how my family comes together to defend what's ours. Everyone stands and backs me up. That's an amazing moment," expresses Terrence Howard.
"Jamal takes the bull by the horn and really shows Lucious that he is capable of doing the things that Lucious has done," explains Smollett. Could their breakthrough (and Lucious' acceptance of Jamal's sexuality) finally be coming?
Then, comes perhaps the most dramatic revelation of all.
"In the beginning of the episode, Andre does stop taking his medication," says Trai Byers of his character. "It really is the beginning of Andre's full-on breakdown," adds Jussie Smollett.
There have been various instances of foreshadowing to his big break, starting from early in the series. "The stress was too much for him to bear, trying to live up to his father [and] to his brothers that have so much talent," suggests Howard.
Trai Byers continues, "The final scene with Andre and Lucious is a no-holds-barred, old Lyon versus young Lyon. It's war. Everything is coming out - it becomes an explosion."
"Stop fighting!" Lucious yells as Andre is restrained in a chokehold.
