Coach Byron Scott has high praises for the recent play of Jeremy Lin during the Los Angeles Lakers' three-game winning streak, as he said that "Linsanity" might regain his starter status soon.
The coach told Inside SoCal that Jeremy Lin could lead the starters this week.
"He's responded better off the bench but I just want to see how that goes because he hasn't started in a while," he said.
Crunching the numbers, the article claimed that Linsanity performed better as a starter for the Los Angeles Lakers than coming off the bench.
"Lin averaged 11.6 points on 44.9 percent shooting and five assists in 23 games as a starter, while averaging 9.9 points on a 42.2 percent clip and 4.2 assists off the bench," it said. "Yet, Lin appears more efficient off the bench considering the difference in playing time as a starter (29.6 minutes) and reserve (22.5 minutes)."
Lakers Examiner reporter Ryan Ward tweeted: "Byron Scott on Jeremy Lin: "He's really started to get into a little bit of a groove."
"Jeremy Lin & Wayne Ellington have also been solid offensively. Ellington w/ 29 over 2 games. Lin w/ 47 in the last 3," he added.
Just 20 games into the season, and with the Los Angeles Lakers in a flux, Linsanity was grounded to the bench. Jeremy Lin's name was also floated in various trade rumors up until the Feb. 19 deadline passed.
Prior to the trade deadline, Jeremy Lin told Sheridan Hoops, "I'm keeping my options open and see what's out there. I'm just going to evaluate everything when the time comes because right now you could say stuff, but it doesn't really matter until I'm presented (with something) at the time because I don't know what the landscape is going to look like."
This season Jeremy Lin was far from the Linsanity days as a New York Knicks as he averaged only 10.4 points and 4.6 assists in limited minutes for the Los Angeles Lakers.
