Kim Soo Hyun recently confirmed his role in the upcoming KBS drama "The Producer." But until recently he was also considering a role in a supernatural MBC drama titled "Night Strolling Scholar."

It was a hard decision to make. Here are the pros for each drama and why he chose one over the other.

"Night Strolling Scholar" is an adaptation of a webtoon with the same title. In that historical fantasy drama he would play a handsome mysterious scholar who is also a vampire. His vampire character wanders through the Joseon-era palace until he meets a girl disguised as a bookseller. Viewers know that Kim Soo Hyun can excel at a historical drama because he was so good in "The Moon Embracing The Sun." And taking part in that drama would have reunited him with Lee Sung Joon, the director of the wildly successful "Moon Embracing The Sun." Lee also directed last year's hit "Empress Ki." The writer Jang Hyun Joo wrote "Coffee Prince."

And viewers also know that Kim Soo Hyun can excel at playing a paranormal character, as he was a compellingly romantic alien in "You Who Came From The Stars."

But then there is "Producer." This drama offers him a chance to reunite with his "Dream High" co-star singer-actress IU. According to Korea's Joongang Daily, IU has already committed to starring in that drama, although other sources say nothing is confirmed. Actor Cha Tae Hyun is also considering a role in the drama and the latest news is that popular actress Gong Hyo Jin may also be interested.

Gong has been offered the role of an arrogant veteran producer who likes to abuse the power that she has. Chae Tae Hyun will also play a producer and Kim Soo Hyun will play a law school student who switched careers to become a producer. IU will play a cool and aloof star, a character that cannot trust others.

The writer and director for this drama are also impressive. Park Ji Eun, who wrote the screenplay for "You Who Came From The Stars," is in charge of the script." The director Seo Soo Min has previously focused on popular variety shows such as "Superman Returns."

"Producer" is set to start filming in April. Since he finished appearing in the hit "You Who Came From The Stars," Kim Soo Hyun has been busy filming ads and participating in fan tours.
